With the variety of lighting technologies available in the market today, different lamp bases have been developed for use in a multitude of applications. Below is more information on some of the most common lamp bases found in the market and their applications.
Edison Screw Bases
E12 Base (Candelabra)

Small Screw-in base, 12mm in diameter. Typically found on Candelabra bulbs used in applications such as Chandeliers.
E26 Base (Medium)

Standard Edison Screw-in Base used with many lamp shapes. Base is 26 mm in diameter.
E39 Base (Mogul)

E39 Base (Mogul): Large Screw-in Base typically found on Metal Halide, HPS, and other HID light sources. Base is 39 mm in diameter.
EX39 Base (Extended-Tip Mogul)

Mogul Sized Screw-in Base with Extended Tip. This base is found on Metal Halide lamps intended for use in open fixtures.

GU10 Base

Bayonet style twist-lock pin-pin connector. Pins spaced 10mm. Used with Incandescent and CFLs.
GU24 Base

G23 Base

Bi-Pin plug-in base with one pair of retaining clips. Used with twin tube CFLs between 7W and 11W. Pins are spaced 23mm apart.
Gx23-1 Base

Bi-pin plug-in base with two pairs of retaining clips. Used with twin tube 13W CFLs. Pins are spaced 23 mm apart.
GX23-2 Base

Bi-pin plug-in base. Similar to Gx23-1 but with a wider base. Used on 13W Double Twin Tube CFLs.
G24D-1 Base

2-pin plug-in lamp. Pins are arranged horizontally around the stem. Found on 13W CFLs that operate on magnetic ballast.
